Forth Marine Hatchery Project Leader
Jake has a strong background in marine biology and aquaculture, with extensive hands-on experience in hatchery operations, conservation, and project delivery. For several years, he served as Director of the Firth of Forth Lobster Hatchery, where he led restoration efforts, secured vital funding through fundraising initiatives, and managed a team of staff and volunteers. During this time, he helped grow the charity’s reach and impact, fostering strong community and industry partnerships.
Jake has also worked as Biology Lead and Site Manager for an innovative aquaculture start-up, where he oversaw breeding projects, system development, and day-to-day site operations. His dual experience in both the charity and commercial sectors gives him a unique perspective on sustainable aquaculture and marine restoration.
As Project Lead at the Forth Marine Hatchery, Jake brings together his skills in science, management, and public engagement to drive the charity’s oyster and lobster restoration programmes. He’s passionate about rebuilding marine ecosystems through practical, nature-based solutions and involving local communities in the process.
