We are in the business of delivering environmental impact: As a charity we are governed by business and environmental professionals. Across our team we bring extensive business, operational and commercial experience to each project, combined with a passion for nature and a more sustainable world.
Force multipliers: We engage with communities, volunteers and organisations to accelerate and scale our operations and impact. Outreach is a critical part of our program and we host workshops, speak at events and engage with local schools and their pupils.

Strategic Partnership
We think like a business, because we are a business, and aim to align ourselves with the best partners with strong reputations, values and influence.
Our Strategic Partner program aims to build long-term relationships typically over a three-year period with a small number of select organisations committed to making a difference.
Strategic partners invest in the “core” of Balanced Horizon. This investment is directed at the greatest areas of need to accelerate and deliver our environmental mission.
We take the responsibility of receiving core investment seriously. Our trustees are both business and environmental professionals, and our Group General Manager has over 25 years of business experience, much of which as an employer, company director and business owner.
Visibility
Strategic Partners feature on our website home page – the first thing site visitors will see. Strategic partners also feature heavily in all our external comms; from social media and LinkedIn to newsletters, blogs and news articles. Visibility for Strategic Partners plays a key role in all our outreach activities, such as workshops and events, radio and television appearances, and features in the local and national press.
Volunteering
Strategic Partners are allocated hands on volunteering experiences across our three core projects. This includes unique “experience days” which are entirely bespoke activities, both seeing and helping our teams deliver impact, out at sea, on the coast and further inland.
Impact
Strategic Partners enable collective impact, generate future opportunities, and champion our cause. Across our projects, impact is quantifiable and we work closely with Strategic Partners to articulate this within their CSR and ESG strategies and targets.

Project Sponsor
Project Sponsors can choose one, or more, of our three core projects to invest in. By doing this their investment, impact and environmental return is delivered solely through their chosen project/s.
Visibility
Project Sponsors feature on our website project page, along with the impact their investment is creating. Project Sponsors also feature in all our external comms; from social media and LinkedIn to newsletters, blogs and news articles.
Volunteering
As an environmental charity focused on restoration most of our work takes place outdoors in natures wild and beautiful places.
Volunteering forms a key part of our project sponsor program, with multiple opportunities for hands on engagement with the chosen project/s. This could range from remote island beach cleaning via boat, to tree planting and releasing oysters.
Impact
Project Sponsors will see direct first hand impact through their chosen project/s. Its a unique opportunity for staff and teams to see that together with their employer they are making a real tangible difference. Its also a credible and meaningful way to deliver on CSR and ESG targets – and be seen to be doing this.

Volunteering
Volunteering experiences like no other; we can design bespoke volunteering days from East Lothian to the remote Western Isles. Your team can engage with and volunteer across our three core projects:
- Sea: Forth Marine Hatchery – Restoration of keystone marine species critical to the health of our coastal waters.
- Coast: Scottish Coastal Clean Up – Cleaning scotlands beaches from decades of marine plastics and litter pollution.
- Land: Muir to Forth – Restoration of inland continuous nature habitat allowing biodiversity to thrive.
Our teams are experienced in working with volunteers, and managing logistics, health and safety, and creating hands on experiences blending education and action.
